While at the Center for Justice Innovation, members of this team led a participatory study on the experiences of adults in New York City’s sex trade. One-on-one mixed-methods interviews with more than 300 adults from across NYC’s five boroughs reveals a complex and multifaceted set of factors that often compel trading of sex for things participants wanted or needed. This study—the most comprehensive to date—reveals a murky continuum between force and choice.
