While at the Center for Justice Innovation, this team (alongside some additional colleagues) completed a year-long participatory study of the drivers and experiences of gun-carrying for NYC youth 16-24. One-on-one interviews with 330 youth from Morrisania, Brownsville, and East Harlem revealed a startling degree of exposure to violence and feeling unsafe is a primary motivator.
